نیویارک ( محسن ظہیر سے) نیویارک پولیس ڈیپارٹمنٹ کمیونٹی افئیرز یونٹ کے زیر اہتمام حسب روایت اس سال بھی ورلڈ حجاب ڈے کے موقع پر نیویارک میں حجاب ڈے منایا گیا جو کہ مسلم امریکن کمیونٹی کے جواں سال ارکان کی ریکارڈ تعداد میں شرکت کی وجہ سے ایک تاریخ ساز ایونٹ بن گیا۔ ”مونا “ اسلامک سنٹر میں منعقدہ حجاب ڈے میں شریک نیویارک کے مختلف سکولوں کی سٹوڈنٹس، مسلم امریکن لیڈی پولیس آفیسرز اور کمیونٹی ارکان سینکڑوں کی تعداد میں حجاب پہن کر شریک ہوئیں ۔حجاب ڈے کے انعقاد میں کونسل آف پیپلز آرگنائزیشن، مونا سوشل سروسز، اسلامک ریلیف ، راجہ کمیونٹی سنٹر اور ڈاکٹر جہانگیر کبیر سمیت کمیونٹی کی اہم تنظیموں نے کردار ادا کیا ۔ تقریب کا آغاز امریکہ ترانے اور مسلم امریکن سٹوڈنٹس کی جانب سے قرآن مجید کی حجاب کے حوالے سے آیات کی تلاوت اور ان کا ترجمہ پیش کرکے کیا گیا۔
نیویارک پولیس کے چیپلن امام طاہر کوکائی نے دعائیہ کلمات ادا کرتے ہوئے قرآن و حدیث کی روشنی میں حجاب کی اہمیت بیان کی اور نیویارک پولیس ڈیپارٹمنٹ کامسلسل چوتھے سال حجاب ڈے کے انعقاد پر شکرئیہ ادا کیا ۔
نیویارک پولیس کے کمیونٹی آؤٹ ریچ ڈویژن کے سارجنٹ لطیف کا کہنا تھا کہ حجاب ڈے اس بات کی عکاسی کرتا ہے کہ نیویارک پولیس ڈیپارٹمنٹ ، شہریوں کی اہم امور میں شمولیت اور ہر ایک کے حقوق کے تحفظ کو یقینی بناتا ہے ۔

نیویارک پولیس کی کمیونٹی آؤٹ ریچ ڈویژن کی ایگزیکٹو آفیسر کیپٹن لارین پیریز نے مسلم امریکن کمیونٹی کو نہ صرف ورلڈ حجاب ڈے پر مبارکباد دی بلکہ انہوں نے تقریب میں سب کی موجودگی میں حجاب پہننا سیکھا اور حجاب پہنا بھی ۔
قرآن اکیڈیمی کی فہمیدہ فردوس اور تقریب میں شریک بچیوں کا حجاب کے حوالے سے کہنا تھا کہ حجاب محض لباس نہیں، بلکہ مسلم امریکن خواتین کے ایمان، وقار اور ذاتی آزادی کی علامت ہے۔ یہ ان کے مذہبی عقیدے کا ایک شعوری انتخاب ہے، جو شناخت، خود اعتمادی اور اقدار کی عکاسی کرتا ہے۔مقررین کا مزید کہنا تھا ایک متنوع امریکی معاشرے میں حجاب باہمی احترام، مذہبی آزادی اور رواداری کے پیغام کو مضبوط کرتا ہے۔کوپو تنظیم کے محمد رضوی کا کہنا تھا مسلم کمیونٹی کے لیے حجاب اس بات کی یاد دہانی ہے کہ اپنے عقائد پر فخر کے ساتھ قائم رہنا ہی اصل آگاہی اور طاقت ہے۔

NYPD Hosts Historic World Hijab Day as Lady Police Executives and Officers Wear Hijab

New York: February 3, 2026 – Under the auspices of the New York Police Department’s Community Affairs Unit, World Hijab Day was observed in New York for the fourth consecutive year, marking one of the largest and most historic celebrations of its kind. The event, held at the MUNA Islamic Center, witnessed record participation from young members of the Muslim American community, students from various New York schools, community leaders, and Muslim American women police officers—many of whom wore the hijab in solidarity.
The program was supported by prominent community organizations including the Council of Peoples Organization (COPO), MUNA Social Services, Islamic Relief USA, Raja Community Center, and Dr. Jahangir Kabir. The ceremony began with the U.S. national anthem, followed by Quranic recitation and translation related to hijab presented by Muslim American students.
NYPD Chaplain Imam Tahir Kukiqi delivered the invocation, highlighting the significance of hijab in the light of the Quran and Hadith, and expressed gratitude to the NYPD for consistently hosting World Hijab Day. Sergeant Latif from the Community Outreach Division stated that the event reflects NYPD’s commitment to inclusion, civic engagement, and the protection of everyone’s rights.
Assistant Chief Christopher McIntosh of Queens South noted that the hijab represents the identity and presence of the Muslim American community, which forms a significant part of New York’s diverse population. Executive Officer of the Community Outreach Division, Captain Lauren Perez, congratulated the Muslim American community on World Hijab Day and learned how to wear a hijab during the event, wearing it publicly in a show of support.
Speakers including Fahmida Ferdous of the Quran Academy and participating students emphasized that hijab is not merely a garment, but a symbol of faith, dignity, personal choice, and empowerment for Muslim American women. They added that in a diverse American society, hijab strengthens messages of mutual respect, religious freedom, and tolerance. COPO’s Mohammad Rizvi remarked that hijab serves as a reminder for the Muslim community to take pride in their beliefs, which is the true source of awareness and strength.
Muslim American community leaders thanked the NYPD Community Affairs Unit for organizing a successful and historic World Hijab Day. It was reiterated that Muslim American women serving in the NYPD are permitted to wear hijab while on duty, reflecting the department’s inclusive policies.
