Pakistani American Community Leader Sadia Malik Appointed to New York City Comptroller-Elect Mark Levine’s Transition Committee
New York — In a significant moment of representation for the Pakistani American community, prominent community leader Sadia Malik, Vice Chair of the Staten Island Democratic Party, has been appointed to the transition committee of New York City Comptroller-Elect Mark Levin Malik joins a diverse and highly experienced group of civic, business, faith-based, labor, and community leaders tasked with helping shape the vision, priorities, and structure of the incoming Comptroller’s office.
The Transition Committee — co-chaired by Henry Garrido, Executive Director of District Council 37, and Yvonne Stennett, Executive Director of CLOTH — includes influential New Yorkers including Dr. Debbie Almontaser, Stuart Appelbaum, Rabbi Rachel Ain, Cristina Contreras, Patrick Hendry, Wayne Ho, Jennifer Jones Austin, Laura Kavanagh, Gary LaBarbera, Carlo Scissura, Dennis Walcott, and leaders from every borough and every sector of New York City.
Representing the Pakistani American community, Sadia Malik’s appointment is widely celebrated, highlighting her continued rise as a respected political and civic voice in New York. Malik has long been recognized for her work in community organizations, Democratic Party leadership, and advocacy for diverse immigrant communities on Staten Island and beyond.
Sadia Malik expressed her gratitude to Comptroller-Elect Mark Levine, stating:

The transition committee features more than 80 esteemed leaders, including Ali Rashid of the American Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG), Dilip Nath, Harpreet Singh Toor, and several other prominent Asian, Latino, African American, Jewish, Muslim, and labor representatives — reflecting the diversity and complexity of New York City’s populace.
