Masjid Bellmore, Masjid Baqi Long Island, Islamic Center of Long Island (ICLI), along with other Islamic centers, community organizations, and distinguished members of the Pakistani American community, donated to Cancer Care Hospital Lahore during the fundraising dinner.

Prof. Dr. Shaharyar gave a presentation on the project that was informative yet heartbreaking due to the suffering of cancer patients. Dr. Shahryar spoke about the hospital’s mission to address the unmet needs of the community and expressed his gratitude towards the Pakistani American community for their generosity and support. He mentioned that there is no cash counter in their cancer hospital and they strive to provide free cancer treatment to all patients.

Dr. Shahryar also highlighted that Pakistan lacked palliative care services for advanced cancer patients but now has its first-ever Institute of Palliative Care, comforting thousands of patients. He added that an organized campaign is performing free mammography in underprivileged communities to detect breast cancer early.

The hospital’s well-equipped emergency room, supported by an emergency operation theater and laboratory, is accepting all types of cancer emergencies. Additionally, the hospital’s radiation department, oncology services, and dedicated operation theaters for cancer surgeries are all state-of-the-art facilities.

Dr. Shahryar emphasized that Pakistan now has its first cancer hospital providing free services where no one is refused treatment based on age, advanced stage of disease, or expenses involved. He thanked the community for their prayers, well wishes, and generous donations, stating that they have built this hospital as a gift to cancer patients in Pakistan.
