New York – Five years after the horrific acid attack on Pakistani medical student Nafiah Ikram in Elmont, Long Island, authorities have arrested a suspect in the case. The accused, identified as Terrell Campbell, now faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.
Nafiah Ikram was attacked with acid outside her home in 2021, leaving her with severe injuries and sparking outrage within the Pakistani American community and beyond. The shocking assault had remained unsolved for years, raising questions about the attacker’s identity and motive.
In an exclusive conversation, Nafiah’s father, Sheikh Ikram, shared new details about the case. He clarified that the arrested suspect had no known connection to his daughter or their family.
“My daughter Nafiah Ikram does not know Terrell Campbell, nor does he have any relation to our family,” Sheikh Ikram said.
According to him, authorities received a tip about the suspect approximately a year ago, but the arrest process took considerable time. “There was information provided about the suspect a year ago, but it took another year for the arrest to be made,” he explained.
While investigators have not publicly disclosed a clear motive for the attack, the arrest marks a significant development in a case that has deeply affected the family and the wider community.
The case is now moving forward in court. If found guilty, Terrell Campbell could face a prison sentence of up to 25 years.
The Ikram family continues to seek justice, hoping that the legal proceedings will finally bring closure after years of pain and uncertainty.
