لندن (اردونیوز) برطانیہ میں برطانوی حکومت نے امیگریشن اور پناہ گزینوں کے نظام میں بڑے پیمانے پر تبدیلیوں کا اعلان کردیا ہے، جس کے تحت سیاسی پناہ (اسائلم )لینے والوں کے لیے قوانین مزید سخت اور جائزہ عمل تیز کردیا گیا ہے۔برطانوی ہوم سیکریٹری شبانہ محمود نے پارلیمنٹ کو آگاہ کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ آئندہ پناہ (اسائلم)کے متلاشی افراد کو برطانیہ میں صرف عارضی قیام کی اجازت دی جائے گی۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ پناہ گزین کا اسٹیٹس اب پانچ سال کے بجائے ڈھائی سال بعد دوبارہ جانچا جائے گا، اور اگر ان کا آبائی ملک محفوظ تصور کیا گیا تو انہیں واپس بھیجا جاسکے گا۔

شبانہ محمود نے بتایا کہ سیاسی پناہ کے نظام میں اپیل کا اختیار بھی محدود کردیا گیا ہے، اور اب درخواست گزار صرف ایک اپیل دائر کرسکیں گے۔ سیاسی پناہ حاصل کرنے والوں کو برطانیہ میں مستقل رہائش ملنے کے لیے 20 سال تک انتظار کرنا ہوگا۔انہوں نے مزید کہا کہ محفوظ اور قانونی راستے سے آنے والے افراد مستقل رہائش کے لیے تیزی سے درخواست دے سکیں گے۔ ساتھ ہی یورپی ہیومن رائٹس کنونشن کے آرٹیکل آٹھ یعنی خاندانی زندگی کے حق سے متعلق ایک نیا بل بھی پیش کیا جائے گا، جس کے تحت یہ حق صرف انہی لوگوں کو حاصل ہوگا جو برطانیہ میں اپنے قریبی خاندان کے ساتھ رہ رہے ہوں گے۔
ہوم سیکریٹری نے واضح کیا کہ پناہ گزینوں کو رہائش اور ہفتہ وار الاو¿نس کی فراہمی کی اب کوئی ضمانت نہیں ہوگی۔ ان کے مطابق گزشتہ چار برسوں میں چار لاکھ سے زائد افراد نے برطانیہ میں پناہ کی درخواستیں دیں۔
UK Unveils Major Overhaul of Immigration and Asylum System
London – The British government has announced a sweeping set of reforms to its immigration and asylum system, outlining stricter rules for applicants and a new review process for refugee status.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood, while briefing Parliament, said that individuals seeking asylum in the UK will now be granted only temporary permission to stay. She explained that under the new framework, asylum seekers’ status will be reassessed after 2 years and 6 months, instead of the previous five-year review period. If their home country is later deemed safe, they may be returned.
Mahmood also introduced limits on appeals, stating that applicants will now be allowed only one appeal against a failed asylum claim. Those granted political asylum will face a longer wait for permanent residency, which will now require 20 years of residence.
The Home Secretary added that migrants entering the UK through safe and legal routes will have quicker access to permanent settlement. She also announced a forthcoming bill addressing the application of Article 8 of the European Convention on Human Rights, which deals with the right to family life. Under the new rules, this right will apply only to those living with close family members in the UK.
Mahmood further stated that the government will no longer guarantee housing or weekly allowances for asylum seekers. She revealed that nearly 400,000 people have applied for asylum in the UK over the past four years.
