نیویارک ( اردونیوز) لانگ آئی لینڈ ، نیویارک کے آئزن ہاور پارک میں سال 2024میں آئی سی سی ورلڈ کپ کے انعقاد سے امریکہ میں کرکٹ کی نئی تاریخ رقم ہو ئی تھی ۔ اُس تاریخی کرکٹ ورلڈ کپ کے انعقاد کو کاو¿نٹی ایگزیکٹو بروس بلیک کی قیادت میں آئی سی سی ورلڈ کپ کی میزبان کمیٹی ( ہوسٹ کمیٹی ) کے کو چئیرمین چوہدری اکرم اور چئیرمین ہیری سنگھ بھولا نے یقینی بنایا تھا۔
آئزن ہاور پارک کو امریکہ میں امریکی تاریخ کے پہلے آئی سی سی ٹی ٹوئنٹی ورلڈ منعقد کروانے کی تاریخ کو محفوظ کرنے اور آئزن ہاور پارک میں آنے والوں لوگوں کو تاریخ یاد لانے کے لئے پارک میں ٹی ٹوئنٹی ورلڈ کپ کا پلیک لگا دیا گیا ہے۔ پلیک لگوانے کی ایک خصوصی تقریب منعقد ہوئی جس میں کاؤنٹی ایگزیکٹو بروس بلیک مین نے چوہدری اکرم اور ہیری سنگھ بھولا کے ہمراہ ، پارک میں پلیک نصب کیا ۔ اس موقع پر پارک کمشنر ڈورسی بیلیا سمیت اعلیٰ حکام اور اہم شخصیات موجود تھیں ۔
واضح رہے کہ سال 2024میں آئی سی سی نے ٹی ٹوئنٹی ورلڈ کپ کے لئے آئزن ہاور پارک میں خصوصی میک شفٹ کرکٹ سٹیڈیم تعمیر کیا تھا جس میں کرکٹ ورلڈ کپ کے تاریخی میچ ہوئے اور شائقین کرکٹ کی بڑی تعداد شریک ہوئی ۔
چوہدری اکرم نے کاؤنٹی ایگزیکٹو بروس بلیک مین کا شکرئیہ ادا کرتے ہوئے کہا کہ ان کے لئے زندگی بھر کا اعزاز ہے کہ وہ آئی سی سی ٹی ٹوئنٹی ہوسٹ کمیٹی کی میزبان کمیٹی کے شریک چئیرمین ( کو چئیرمین ) تھے ۔ چوہدری اکرم کا مزید کہنا تھا کہ لانگ آئی لینڈ سمیت امریکہ بھر میں بسنے والی ساؤتھ ایشین کمیونٹی کا کرکٹ مقبول ترین کھیل ہے، ناسا کاو¿نٹی ایگزیکٹو بروس بلیک مین نے ، آئزن ہاور پارک میں ورلڈ کپ کرواکر امریکہ میں کرکٹ کے فروغ اور سپورٹ میں تاریخی کردار ادا کیا ۔

New York: July 13, 2026 — A commemorative plaque honoring the successful hosting of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Eisenhower Park was unveiled on Monday, marking a historic milestone for cricket in the United States. The plaque bears the names of Host Committee Co-Chair Chaudhry Akram and Chair Harry Singh Bhola, recognizing their leadership in bringing the global tournament to Nassau County.
The unveiling ceremony was led by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman, who was joined by Chaudhry Akram, Harry Singh Bhola, Nassau County Parks Commissioner Dorsey Bley, senior county officials, and community leaders. Together, they installed the plaque at Eisenhower Park to preserve the legacy of the 2024 tournament and commemorate the venue’s role in hosting the first-ever ICC Men’s T20 World Cup matches in the United States.
The 2024 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup marked a turning point for cricket in America. A temporary international-standard cricket stadium was specially constructed at Eisenhower Park, where several historic World Cup matches were played before thousands of enthusiastic fans from around the world. The event showcased the growing popularity of cricket in the U.S. and highlighted Long Island as an emerging destination for international sporting events.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chaudhry Akram thanked County Executive Bruce Blakeman for his vision and support in making the tournament a reality. He described serving as Co-Chair of the ICC T20 World Cup Host Committee as one of the greatest honors of his life.
Akram said cricket is the most popular sport among the South Asian community living on Long Island and across the United States. He praised Blakeman for playing a historic role in promoting cricket by bringing the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup to Eisenhower Park, adding that the tournament introduced the sport to a wider American audience and created a lasting legacy for future generations.
The commemorative plaque now stands as a permanent reminder of the landmark event that helped establish a new chapter in the history of cricket in the United States.
